Finance files for households

Create money workspaces, share a file with collaborators, and mark registered accounts (TFSA, RRSP, FHSA). Free Family seats are managed under Billing.

Purpose: A file is a money workspace (accounts + transactions + budgets + Plan data). Solo users usually have one; Family can create more (e.g. “Household”, “Kids”, “Business side”).

Important: Sharing a file is not the same as giving someone free Klyrr access. Free app access is a Family seat managed under Billing. File invites only grant access to that file — the other person needs their own plan or a Family seat to use the app.

Open Files

Menu → Files, or bottom nav Files.

Create a file

  1. Open Files.
  2. Create a new file (respects your plan’s file limit).
  3. Give it a clear name.

Switch which file you’re looking at

If you have more than one file, a scope switcher appears near the top:
- All files — combined view where supported
- Or pick one file — Dashboard, Transactions, Budgets, and Plan then focus on that file

Tip: For Plan (goals, room, debts), pick a specific file so household data stays clean.

Manage a file (open its detail page)

Accounts
1. Add an account: name, institution, type (chequing, savings, credit, investment, other).
2. Optionally set a registered wrapper: TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, RESP, RDSP, RRIF, HISA, or non-registered.
3. Edit later from the same page (expand Manage).

Why wrappers matter: Contribution room in Plan only tracks accounts marked as registered wrappers.

People on this file
- Owner — full control of this file (billing for the app is separate; see Billing / Family seats).
- Can edit (write) — add/edit transactions and Plan data on this file.
- View only (read) — see data, cannot change it.

1. On the file page, use Invite by email, choose read or write, optionally add a message.
2. They receive a link; they must sign in or sign up with that same email.
3. They need an active Klyrr entitlement (their own Solo/Family subscription or a Family seat) to use the app and open the shared file.
4. Collaborator limits apply (Family: up to 4 people per file including you). Solo cannot invite collaborators.

History for this file: link to History from the file page, or use bottom nav History.

Tips
- Don’t delete the default file unless you know you have another.
- To let a partner use Klyrr for free, invite them from Billing → Family seats first; share files afterward if you want.
- File collaborators keep their own billing unless they are on your Family seats.
