Canadian Plan: goals, room, debts & allocator

Decide where leftover dollars go next — TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, debts, benefits, and the Next Dollar Allocator.

Purpose: After you know where money went, decide where it should go next — goals, tax shelters, debt, benefits — in plain language.

Open Plan from the menu. Bottom nav stays focused on snap (by design).

Plan hub (/app/plan)

Shows:
- KPIs: safe to allocate, room left, goal progress, debt-free date
- Up to three next best actions
- Cards: Goals · Tax shelters · Debts · Benefits
- Labs: Home & FHSA · Parental leave · Retirement
- Short Plan insights

CTA Next dollar opens the Allocator.

Disclaimer on hub: educational estimates only; verify with CRA / Revenu Québec / Service Canada.

Goals (/app/goals)

Purpose: Track targets (emergency fund, debt-free, home down payment, TFSA/FHSA fill, RESP/CESG, retirement, trip, custom).

How to
1. Open Plan → Goals (first visit may seed draft goals from onboarding — set real dollar targets yourself).
2. Create a goal: name, type, target amount, optional current amount and date.
3. Update progress as you save.
4. Archive when done or abandoned.

Tips
- One primary goal beats five ignored ones.
- Link mentally to a wrapper (e.g. home → FHSA) even if you update amounts manually today.

Contribution room (/app/room)

Purpose: Estimate remaining room in TFSA / RRSP / FHSA (and track RESP etc.) after you enter CRA starting room and log contributions/withdrawals.

How to
1. In Files, mark accounts with the correct registered wrapper.
2. Open Room.
3. Set CRA starting room from CRA My Account (or Revenu Québec context for QC naming).
4. Log contributions (in) and withdrawals (out).
5. Use year pills for current vs prior calendar year.

Critical tips
- Numbers are estimates based on what you typed — always verify in CRA My Account.
- TFSA withdrawals restore room on January 1 next year — Klyrr does not auto-add that; be careful mid-year.
- Amber “near limit” means slow down and double-check before contributing more.

Debts (/app/debts)

Purpose: Inventory debts and simulate avalanche (highest interest first) vs snowball (smallest balance first).

How to
1. Add each debt: name, kind, balance, APR %, minimum payment.
2. Choose strategy + optional extra monthly payment → Update plan.
3. Read projected debt-free date and estimated interest saved vs minimums-only.
4. Remove debts you paid off (archive).

Tip: High APR cards usually beat investing the same dollar — the Allocator prioritizes that when you flag expensive debt.

Next Dollar Allocator (/app/allocator)

Purpose: Turn this month’s leftover into an ordered checklist (employer match → high-interest debt → FHSA → emergency → TFSA → RRSP → goals).

How to
1. Open Allocator (from Plan or Dashboard savings).
2. Step 1 — confirm leftover (prefilled from dashboard savings; edit freely).
3. Step 2 — toggle priorities that apply to you.
4. Step 3 — Save plan. Klyrr does not move bank money; use the split as your checklist.
5. Revisit the saved plan on the same page.

Tip: Run it on payday or when a tax refund arrives.

Benefits & grants (/app/benefits)

Purpose: Radar of commonly missed Canadian advantages (employer RRSP match, FHSA/CELIAPP, CESG/SCEE, IQEE in Quebec, RDSP awareness, tax-refund recycling, family benefits).

How to
1. Save your household profile: province, employer match, first-home eligible, children, Disability Tax Credit flag.
2. Open each card → follow the in-app action or the official link (locale-correct CRA / RQ pages).

Tip: Cards are nudges, not eligibility decisions. Confirm on government sites before acting.

Life labs
