Money calendar

Zoom from years to days, colour by cash flow, categories, merchants, or tags, and compare each period to the previous one.

Purpose: See your money across time as a calm, zoomable calendar — years → months → days — with light colour cues and period comparisons, without drowning in transaction lists.

Open it: Menu → Calendar, or go to app.klyrr.ca/en/app/calendar.

Zoom levels

  1. Years — one card per year with income (green) and spending (red), a ratio bar, colour dots, and % change vs the previous year.
  2. Year — twelve month tiles. Tap a month to zoom in.
  3. Month — a day grid (Monday-first). Heat and dots show activity; amounts stay light on small screens.
  4. Day — a short snapshot (top highlights). Open View operations for the full list.

Use the breadcrumb (Years / 2025 / March / 15) or Back to zoom out. URLs keep your place (?y=2025&m=3&d=15).

Colour modes

Use the pills at the top to colour the dots:

Mode What the dots mean
Cash flow Green = income · Red = spending
Categories Your top categories for that period
Merchants Top merchants
Tags Top tags

A legend under the pills explains the colours for the active mode.

Income / spending bars

On year and month cards, the horizontal bar is a simple ratio:

  • Green (left) — income share
  • Red (right) — spending share

A gap sits between the two pills so the mix is easy to read at a glance. Amounts and % changes sit under the bar they belong to.

Period comparisons (%)

KPI cards and year/month tiles show a % vs the previous comparable period:

  • Year → vs previous year (for the current year, Klyrr uses year-to-date vs the same slice last year)
  • Month → vs previous month (for the current month, month-to-date vs the same number of days last month)
  • Day → vs the previous calendar day

How to read the colours

Metric Up is… Down is…
Spending Worse (red) Better (green)
Income Better (green) Worse (red)
Net Better (green) Worse (red)
Operations Informational (neutral) Informational (neutral)

Tiny changes (under about 0.05%) show as “Same as previous period.”

Tips

  • Switch finance file at the top if you use more than one household file — the calendar follows the active scope.
  • Use Calendar to spot seasons and spikes; use Timeline for a simple spending bar list; use Operations when you need every row.
  • On phones, day cells keep dots and large tap targets; detailed amounts appear as you zoom in.

Empty state: Import a statement or add operations (snap / manual / bank sync), then reopen Calendar.
